Rekha Thapa is the number one actress of Nepali film industry for this decade. Rekha Thapa has acted in more than a hundred movies including a dozen movies in her home production the Rekha Flms.Rekha Thapa was the top 10 finalist of Miss Nepal 1999 contest. Rekha's debut movie was "Hero" opposite to superstar Rajesh Hamal which was produced by famous producer Chhabiraj Ojha who later on  fell with Rekha and got married until they separated after 10 years relationship. All movies produced by Rekha Films were successful  which helped both Chhabiraj and Rekha to become financially successful and gave Rekha the unprecedented stardom although Rekha had done

 many movies from other banners , most of her remarkable movie were from her own production.

After separation with Chhabiraj, Rekha produced "Kali" under Rekha Films which was commercially successful and established Rekha as an unstoppable heroine of the industry. Excited with the first solo production, Rekha started her second production "Himmatwali" which was to be directed by Shyam Bhattarai who unfortunately become sick when the shooting began. There was rumor that Shyam couldn't cope with Rekha and she was kicked from the movie but both of them have denied the gossip.After Shyam Bhattarai left the movie , Rekha took the job herself and Himmatwali became for first direction venture. Himmatwali became super hit giving Rekha Thapa a brand name in the industry.

Rekha Thapa has won  CG Digital Film Awards for Best Actress in 2010 and 2011,  also won the NEFTA Film Awards for Best Actress in 2011.

Rekha's glamorous role in the movies were liked by the audience although she was very good on dancing and acting skills.Rekha Thapa has more than 2 million fans in various Facebook and Twitter accounts under her name mostly run by her fans.

Rekha Thapa had joined CPN Maoist party after the fist CA election in Nepal where Rekha's dance with Maoist Chairman Prachanda was a media hot cake. Rekha was supposed to be the candidate for CA election 2 from Parsha District but she was unable to submit her nomination as her name was missing in the voter's list.

Rekha has also interest on social work. She has founded the Rekha Foundation which works for welfare of poor children and women.Rekha has funded 4 Raute Children who have been studding at a famous school in Kathmandu. The foundation has also distributed foods and clothes in poor and remote villages of Chepangs.
