With the title, Ashmi will take part in Miss World 2016 representing Nepal.
In the final competition held on Friday evening at Hotel Annapurna Durbarmarg Kathmandu, Ashmi had defeated other 18 contestants who had been training in closed camps since last 3 months.
Another beauty queen Roshani Khatri has bagged the First Runner Up title who will participate in Miss Universe 2016.Likewise Tharu beauty Barsha Lekhi has won the Second Runner Up title enabling her to go to Miss International 2016.
Winners have received Scooty, Flight Tickets to various destinations from Nepal Airlines and Philippine Airlines.
Like in past years, the contest itself couldn't stay away from controversy as this year's winner is from Newar community. Many criticizers claim that most of the Miss Nepal winners are from Newar family because of the bribe as the president of miss Nepal organizer, The Hidden Treasure, is a Newar himself.
But if you closely watch the past winners, they seem deserving because of their outer looks, confidence and the talent.
Country like Nepal, Miss Nepal title is considered as very prestigious in term of name and social status but if we look back at the past winners, they have done nothing special after wining the title, all of their ultimate goal is to become a movie star or open a boutique in Kathmandu if they didn't have any profession already started before becoming Miss Nepal.
This year Sirjana Regmi's name was hyped in social media who was already popular due to her participation at some international competitions earlier which could not prove her better than the winner Ashmi Shrestha.
Ashmi has won Miss Photogenic, Miss Best Gown of the evening and also Miss Intellectual titles.
